The Story Behind Matter Works

Matter Works did not begin with a detailed business plan. It began when I bought my first 3D printer and started making useful things for myself.

I brought some of those creations to work, and as coworkers saw what the printer could do, they began asking whether I could make things for them too. One request led to another, and what started as a personal interest slowly became a real business. That was the beginning of Matter Works.

I am a husband, a father of two young girls, and I still work full-time as a heavy equipment technician, a career I have been in for 22 years. Matter Works is being built alongside that career, one customer and one project at a time.

As demand has grown, so has the business. I added more 3D printers and expanded into CO₂, diode, and infrared laser equipment as customers brought forward new ideas and needs. That remains the approach today: grow responsibly, invest when demand justifies it, and reinvest the money earned back into the business so I can offer more options and produce better work for my customers.

I am grateful for every opportunity to create meaningful personalized gifts, provide accessible branding for Edmonton-area businesses, and help other small businesses get noticed.

The long-term dream is to build Matter Works into my full-time career. Until then, every order helps move that dream forward and supports a local business being built with patience, purpose, and a commitment to making things that matter.
